"How much will I earn?"
This question is probably asked by everyone looking for a job. With our public salary calculator, this is quickly answered. The salary calculator applies to care professionals, care assistants and care workers. These groups can see transparently here how much they earn in the DOREAFAMILIE. We first look at the background to remuneration in the care sector. Then we'll explain what parts make up your salary and how you can calculate it using our salary calculator.
I. The tariff loyalty regulation
Since September 1, 2022, nursing homes and outpatient services have been required to pay their nursing and care teams according to collective agreements. This does not necessarily have to be via a collective agreement. However, there are precise specifications that must be observed when it comes to remuneration. As a result, salaries in the care sector have risen sharply in some cases. The Federal Ministry of Health sees this as a thank you for employees in the care sector. At the same time, it would also like to motivate more people to work in the care sector.
II Influences on the salary of nursing staff
Your income in nursing is made up of several parts. These are either fixed or variable. The amount of the components depends on a number of factors. We will go through these individually.
1. Occupational group
The first important factor that affects your earnings is your qualification. Your earnings depend on which of three groups you fall into:
- Nursing specialist or nurse
- Nursing assistant with 1-year training
- Nursing assistant or care worker according to § 43b
The classification is stored in our salary calculator in all job advertisements. You do not need to select them.
2. Experience
Your experience can also play a role. Some locations have several levels of experience. Whether these exist or not depends on the care rate negotiation for the location. Our calculator always shows the basic salary of the first level.
3. Working hours
How much you earn also depends on your working hours. Do you work full-time, part-time or as a mini-jobber? In our salary calculator, you can choose between full-time (40 hours) and two popular part-time models. Our public calculator will show you a salary that suits you and your situation.
4. Special service at night, on Saturdays or on Sundays and public holidays
The people we care for are sometimes also dependent on sound care and support at night, at weekends and on public holidays. Most of them are off at these times. As it is not a matter of course that you work at these times, there are supplements for these services in the care sector. You receive these bonuses in addition to your basic salary. They depend on when and how many hours you work.
In the DOREAFAMILIE there are the following surcharges:
- At night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.: 25%
- Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.: 25%
- Sundays: 35 %
- On public holidays: 100
How many bonuses can you expect per month?
Our salary calculator shows a monthly average. You can select or deselect this by ticking the box. We have assumed 16 hours per month on Sundays, eight hours on Saturdays after 1 p.m. and two hours on public holidays. This is typical for our nursing staff.
If you do not work at weekends, for example, you will not receive the supplement for this. Overall, your bonuses will then be lower than the average. Permanent night guards, on the other hand, only work at night. In this case, the bonuses are higher than the average.
On Sundays, public holidays and at night, the bonuses are even tax-free. This means that gross equals net. This is already taken into account in the calculator. Every shift with a bonus is worthwhile and is reflected in your salary! In addition to bonuses, there are other variable salary components. This is the case for special qualifications, for example.
5. Allowances for special qualifications
In addition to the basic salary and bonuses, you can also receive allowances. These depend on your additional qualifications. At most of our locations, for example, we are looking for practical supervisors for our trainees. If you have this qualification and use it at your location, you will receive an allowance for this. You can select and deselect the qualification, and therefore the allowance, in the calculator.
At some of our locations, we are also looking for nurses with additional qualifications as wound experts or in the field of palliative care. In these special advertisements, the allowances are automatically stored in the salary calculator. However, bonuses are not only available if you have further professional qualifications. You will also receive a bonus if you take on responsibility as a residential area manager, for example. In this case, the bonus is also stored in the salary calculator and is added to the basic salary.
6. Influence of location on salary
Where you work also has an influence on your salary. Care insurance companies and care providers negotiate separately for each facility and each outpatient service how much money is available for the salary. This means that our salary calculator can give you different values for the same position at two locations.
Example: If you calculate the salary of a care worker in an advertisement for a facility in Hesse, you will get a different result than in Bremen. It is therefore important that you first consider where you would like to work. Then you can start with the salary calculator.
7. Social security contributions and taxes
As is the case outside of nursing care, you must pay social security contributions and taxes on your gross salary. The amount of these depends, among other things, on your tax class. Once you have calculated your gross salary with our calculator, you can use an online calculator that converts gross to net. Here you enter your information such as tax class, children and whether you are in the church. This allows you to calculate your net salary individually. So always remember: what appears in our salary calculator is gross, not net.

With our salary calculator for nursing care, you can calculate how much you will earn with basic salary, bonuses and allowances if you become part of the DOREAFAMILIE. You can also use the calculator to plan your professional and financial future.
